With the cottage above and the boathouse below, this Muskoka renovation made a wonderful use of the connecting space in between. Used only for some storage prior to this project, now this intermediate space contains an entertainment room, bathroom and sauna.

Using a unique secret entry from the cottage living room, this in-floor attic hatch staircase provides quick access between levels. This clever building design negates the need to go outside to access the boathouse or sauna on those cool or rainy Muskoka days and makes entry from boat to cottage seamless.

The sitting area containing the TV, features a raised hardwood bench for lounging. Two sections of concrete were removed in order to install a window for natural light and another that looks into the boathouse slips below.

A clear cedar bathroom was created with walk-in white tile shower complete with double shower heads and glass enclosure. This bathroom is also the entry to the relaxing 14′ X 8′ sauna with built-in double raised benches.
